In attendance Gary Webber (President), Mathew Paul (Vice President), Joanna Kuczera (Treasurer), Clint Idol (Secretary), Paula Kellogg, Marlene Merrill, Tom Hegeman (guest, Scout Pack 3055), Phyllis Farrar (guest, Centennial Park adoption/cleanup)

Treasurer’s Report, 4/16/18 – 2/18/19: (Kuczera): $659.85

  • Expenses: 526.32 (includes reservation of park for potluck, LAN dues, donations to SH Elementary and WMS gardens)
  • Income: 655.30 ($650 membership dues and $.30 in interest)

Old Business

  • Adopt minutes for 12/10/2018 EC meeting: unanimous
  • LAN update (Webber)
    • Schwegler is concerned about short term rental notifications; neighbors were notified but not the neighborhood assn..
    • Upcoming hire of new City Manager in Spring
    • K-10 Crossing plans are being negotiated
    • 2 Neighborhoods were in placed in OZ (Opportunity Zone) with out discussion with these neighborhoods and there is some opposition from neighborhood assns.
    • Upcoming City Commission election this year.
  • Web Site report (Paul): Gary Webber given editing rights for SHNA site.
  • Changes to Ludlum Park (All): Mark Hecker, Park Director, invited to SHNA annual meeting to discuss changes proposed to Ludlum and Polaris Rocket in Centennial. Gary to provide Hecker notes from EC brainstorming session regarding Ludlum.
  • Westar outage survey (Pees): Pees’ statement read. Neighborhood should be encouraged to report outages.
  • Plans for 2019 Annual Meeting (Webber)
    • West cafeteria reserved for April 16, 7pm: Gary and Paula to bring cookies and lemonade
    • Flyer distribution zone map finalized. Distribution to occur in mid-March.
      • No edits to fliers recommended
    • Possible guests: Michelle Dillon (Douglas County senior citizen resource), Urban Agriculture (sustainability resource), Mark Hecker (parks)
  • Neighborhood Potluck (Webber)
    • Centennial East Shelter reserved for May 4, 5-8pm for potluck
    • Matthew Paul to coordinate a main dish, guests to bring sides

New Business

  • Proposal from Pack 3055 for Centennial Park (Idol):
    • Prior plans to adopt the park by cleaning three times per year showed some response but more is needed. Pack 3055 Cubmaster, Tom Hegeman, has invited scout families to participate in future park cleanup activities. Phyllis will send Tom the 3 cleanup dates for 2019 for coordination of volunteers.
  • Centennial Park Sign maintenance: Jeanne Pees questions/comments read regarding the park sign at 9th and Rockledge. Webber to consult City.
  • Non-owner occupied STR at 921 Holiday Dr. (Webber): Discussion of new city policies regarding notification of neighbors, posting, restrictions, etc.. 921 Holiday Dr. is the first known STR of this kind in SH neighborhood.
  • 9th and Iowa Quik-Trip development (Webber): Quik Trip is buying the Zarco station(s) at 9th and Iowa and some of the plans include eliminating 9th St. Terr, which connects Iowa and 9th southeast of the intersection.
  • Remove LAN update documents from web site (Webber): LAN minutes summary to be removed from the SHNA site, link to LAN minutes to remain.

New agenda items from participants

  • KU’s Big Event: SHNA has been asked to donate to the event. The EC decides that the neighborhood budget will not allow a donation at this time.
  • 3 position terms on the SHNA EC will conclude in April: VP, Secretary and Treasurer
