Meeting Minutes
Started 6:30. In attendance Gary Webber, Bill Arick, Jon Dunham, John White, Matthew Paul, Mariana Nieto
- Approve minutes of spring meeting, August 16, 2021: Motion to Approve by Paul, Arick 2nd – Passed
- Treasurer’s Report: Arick deposited $600, expenses $416.16, Balance $1,259.61 Webber will email members who have not renewed to please renew their memberships.
- Old Business
- LAN update:
- September, Evergy Sub Station;
- Oct. Presentation City Transit – transfer facilities, Oct – Pedestrian “Plan”, Sidewalk Variance discussion – North Lawrence sidewalk variance;
- November, KDOT preliminary plans for SLT interchanges at Clinton Parkway & Wakarusa
- Website update: No new updates.
- Report on Annual Meeting and Potluck: Brief Review by Webber, see Annual Meeting minutes online for more information.
- Recruiting additional EC member for 2021-2022: Discussion regarding need to find additional member. Nieto suggested adding invitation to serve with “Welcome Packet”. Inviting Applause winners discussed.
- Business Membership Drive update: five new business members, Paul will be visiting his list this winter.

- New Business
- Donate $50 to Christ Covenant Church for use of the Fellowship Hall for EC meetings: Motion to approve Dunham, Webber second – approved unanimously.
- Discuss Neighborhood Traffic Safety Management application for spring 2022: The committee includes, Joanie Stone, Lisa Goins, Gary Webber, and Sheri Ellenbecker. They will meet in January.
- Report on Applause Award for 2021: There will be an article in newsletter on 2021 Applause Award recipients.
- Review email vote on Sept. 18:
- Motion 1, elect the following officers
- Gary Webber as President
- Matthew Paul as Vice-President
- John White as Secretary
- Bill Arick as Treasurer
- Motion 2, purchase 2 grabbers, 3 buckets for Centennial crew
Yea on both motions, Paul, Arick, Dunham, Nieto, White, and Webber. Both motion pass.
- Motion 1, elect the following officers
- Discuss venue and date for 2022 Annual Meeting: Outdoors, keep in the later part of year, combining with potluck. Next meeting, August/Sept. 2022, Centennial East shelter.
- American Heart Assn. request for support: Discussion regarding proposal for the city to “license” tobacco products. Create Commercial Tobacco license requirement. December 8th virtual informational available. Decision for EC to not support proposed licensure.
- Curb & Gutters – Inventory of deteriorating C&G provided by Gary W. He recently submitted the 6 worst curbs to SeeClickFix website.
- New agenda items from participants
- Dunham asked about plans for more street micro-coating (Area patching and “micro-surfacing”) Webber replied there was nothing planned for the neighborhood in the next year.
- Nieto asked about boxes of scrap concrete left on Rockledge. Contractor will pick these up.
- Arick reported a few thank you responses to the Neighborhood Association EC in renewal returns. Much appreciated by all!
- Set date and time for winter meeting in late February: March 28th tentative date for next meeting at CCC.
